Kilowatt (kW): This is power and corresponds to the flow of electricity being generated or used. Every appliance in your home runs on watts or killowatts. 1 kW is equal to 1000 W.

Kilowatt-hour (kWh): This is energy and how much energy is being generated, stored, or used over time. This is the measurement that the utility companies use to charge you.

If you have a lightbulb that requires 60 w and it runs for 1 hour, that equates to 60 kWh.
